Fishing Lures

As soon as the spring starts rolling around, I start bass fishing. I love pond fishing all year, but especially during the spring months.

The spring gives anglers a wide range of conditions because of the behavior changes of bass.

Bass go through three phases just in the spring months, so you need a wide range of lures to catch the throughout each phase.

During the fall, I love getting out on the water in the early morning.

Especially during the late fall, the early morning, just as the sun is coming up, is an amazing time to catch bass.

Not to mention, these calm mornings give you very calm and beautiful scenery.

Morning fishing in autumn isn’t much different, but I do change up my lure selection a bit to optimize my bass fishing.

During the late fall, as it begins to transition into the winter months, many anglers have a hard time catch bass.

The lures or fishing strategies that had been working for the last couple of months just aren’t catching bass anymore.

So what lures do you need to be using in the late fall transition?

The winter can be a very challenging bass fishing season.

But it can also be a great opportunity for pond fisherman since there is much less competition and it is easier to find fish compared to a big lake.

The dog days of summer. Probably my least favorite season to fish for bass.

However, I spend most of my summer fishing trips at small ponds rather than taking the boat out on the lakes.

Throughout the entire summer, I don’t use many lures. I have found it is better to stick to what I know works rather than trying to experiment with other lures.

From my experience, these are the best bass lures for summer pond fishing.

Windy, choppy water conditions create some unique fishing challenges, but can also create great fishing opportunities if you know how to attack these waters.

Certain lures and fishing strategies will be much more effective in these choppy conditions than others.

When the bite gets tuff, sometimes you need to use a finesse approach to lure those finicky bass into biting.

Finesse fishing is very effective for both smallmouth and largemouth bass. It is also super fun because even small fish put up a great fight and feel big.

Grassy ponds can be difficult to fish because the grass in ponds is different that the grass in big lakes.

The grass in ponds is usually filamentous algae, ponds scum, slime, and matted weeds.
