Can a Rain Jacket Be Breathable?

Yes, of course a rain jacket can be breathable. However, this usually comes with a bit higher price tag.

Only the highest quality companies are able to produce breathable, waterproof, good fitting, and good looking jackets.

Carhartt and Atfco are the two best in my experience. Simms also makes some great products, but they are even more pricey than Carhartt and Aftco.

Is Fishing Better in the Rain?

Fishing in the rain can be both good and bad, depending on various factors.

Some anglers believe that rain can stimulate fish activity, as it oxygenates the water and washes insects into the water, providing more food for fish.

Additionally, rain can help conceal the angler’s presence, making it easier to approach fish without spooking them.

On the other hand, heavy rain can muddy the water and make fishing more challenging.

It can also be uncomfortable for the angler to fish in wet conditions.

This is why a good rain suit, jacket, or boots make fishing in the rain so much better.

Ultimately, whether fishing in the rain is better depends on the specific circumstances, such as the intensity of the rain, the type of fish you’re targeting, and your personal preferences as an angler.

Are Frogg Toggs Breathable?

Frogg Toggs are not super breathable. They are great budget options for fishing rain gear.

But because of the low prices, they aren’t very breathable and tend to be a bit loud as well.

What Do Fisherman Wear in the Rain?

Fishermen often wear waterproof or water-resistant clothing when fishing in the rain to stay dry and comfortable. This typically includes:

  • Rain Jacket: A waterproof or water-resistant jacket with a hood to keep the upper body dry.

  • Rain Pants: Waterproof or water-resistant pants to keep the legs dry.

  • Rain Boots: Waterproof boots to prevent water from seeping into footwear.

  • Waterproof Gloves: Gloves designed to repel water while still providing dexterity for handling fishing gear.

  • Hat or Cap: A hat with a brim or a cap to shield the face from rain and help keep rainwater out of the eyes.

  • Layered Clothing: Underneath the waterproof outer layer, anglers may wear moisture-wicking base layers to help regulate body temperature and stay comfortable.

  • Neoprene Socks: Neoprene socks can keep feet warm and dry, especially in colder weather or if wearing waders.

  • Waterproof Bag or Backpack: A waterproof bag or backpack to protect valuable items such as electronics, snacks, and spare clothing from getting wet.
