3 Best Paddle Tail Swimbaits

The paddle tail swimbait is probably the most universal bait of all time. No matter what body of water you are fishing, there are bass eating small baitfish.

And a finesse swimbait is both incredibly realistic and incredibly easy to fish. Just rig them up on a jig head and you’re ready to go. But what are the best paddle tail swimbaits?

Our Top 3 Swimbaits

Now to be quite honest, every paddle tail swimbait out there works great. And I don’t think it actually makes that big of a difference which one you choose.

So don’t stress too much about getting the perfect bait. The three swimbaits we are about to discuss have proven to work exceptionally well and are also not super expensive.

But don’t think you can’t catch fish unless you are using one of these baits. As long as it has a paddle tail, it will be able to catch fish.

This Keitech swimbait has become by far the most popular paddle tail swimbait in all of bass fishing. And it has pretty much become the industry standard that most other baits are compared to.

The verdict is in, bass anglers everywhere trust the Keitech Fat Swing Impact as their go-to bait for landing trophy fish.

Best Paddle Tail Swimbait Colors

I keep it incredibly simple when picking colors for my swimbaits. If I am trying to imitate shad, I use either a grey or smoke shad type of color.

And if I am trying to imitate bluegill, I use more of a green pumpking or brownish color. Even in dirtier water, I really don’t fish any super bright or dark colors.

Although I encourage you to experiment with a number of different colors, especially if your body of water is highly pressured.

Reeling this In

At the end of the day, paddle tail swimbaits are one of the easiest and most effective ways to catch bass no matter where you’re fishing.

While there are tons of great options out there, the Z-Man MinnowZ, Keitech Fat Swing Impact, and Storm Largo Shad stand out for their performance, durability, and versatility.

But don’t overthink it. If it’s got a paddle tail and mimics a baitfish, it’ll catch fish. Pick a bait, match the hatch, and get out on the water.
