Reaction Tackle Braid Review

Reaction Tackle started as a small business based out of Wisconsin, but has shot to the forefront of the braided fishing line market in recent years.
Reaction Tackle grew so quickly in the braided line market because they offer one of, if not the most affordable braided line on the market.
And because us anglers are always looking to save some money, Reaction Tackle was immediately very popular. But is it actually any good, or is it just a cheap product in both price and quality?
Overall Performance
I have been using the Reaction Tackle braid for a while now, and it definitely does have very good performance.
In my opinion, Reaction Tackle is actually almost identical to Power Pro braid which has been an industry standard line for years.
I used Power Pro braid for years and years, and the transition to Reaction Tackle braid was virtually undetectable.
I feel Reaction Tackle braid would rank slightly below Seaguar Smackdown braid which is pretty much the top tier, premium braided line.
The main difference between the Reaction Tackle and Seaguar lines is that Seaguar is a bit smoother.
The main benefit of that smoothness is that you can cast a bit further. But to be honest, I mostly use braided line for relatively closer casting anyways, so that hasn’t been an issue for me.
Simply put, Reaction Tackle braided line does have very good performance and quality. It isn’t quite in that premium caliber of braided lines, but it is certainly as good as just about every other standard braid on the market.
I haven’t had any issues with it tangling, breaking, or fading too quickly.
Ratings
While I have found Reaction Tackle braid to be very good quality, it also has very good ratings.
Both on their own website and their Amazon store, the average rating for the braided line is about 4.8 out of 5 stars.
And with over a million spools sold, these ratings are from a massive sample size. I have also read through a bunch of these reviews and everyone seems to love the line.
Again, some people will reiterate that the top tier, premium lines do slightly out perform it. But that is pretty obvious considering Reaction Tackle is just about the cheapest braid on the market.
Does It Fade?
I mentioned this a bit earlier, but I think it is worth talking about again. You may have seen Reaction Tackle claiming that their braided line doesn’t fade in color.
Well, that isn’t really true. What they really mean is that it keeps it color better than other brands. No matter what braided line you use, the color will fade over time.
There’s just nothing that you can do about it, so it really isn’t worth worrying about to be honest.
For what it’s worth, I do feel like Reaction Tackle keeps its color a bit longer than other brands. But again, if you are fishing a lot, the braid will fade eventually no matter what.
Line Diameter
Line diameter is very important when it comes to a braided fishing line. Essentially, the lower the diameter, the better.
The thinner diameter allows you to cast further, put more line on the spool, and use higher pound tests.
Below is a chart comparing the diameter of Reaction Tackle braided line to Seaguar Smackdown braid.
As you can see, Reaction Tackle actually has a lower diameter up until about the 50 pound test mark.
But even beyond the 50 pound point, it is still very comparable and certainly on par with the premium braids on the market.

Color Options
Now to be honest, I don’t think the color of braided line makes much of a difference in performance.
Generally, a dark green or brown line is going to be the best option.
But there is something to be said about looking cool. And colored braid does look pretty darn awesome.
Reaction Tackle has bunch of super cool braided line colors that definitely add some swag and aesthetics to your fishing setup.
Now again, these colors won’t actually enhance the performance of the line. But as they say, “If you look good, you play good”.
So at the very least, it’s cool that you have some different color options if that is something you like experimenting with.
Is Reaction Tackle Worth Buying?
From my experience, YES. I haven’t had any issues with Reaction Tackle braided line, and I have been using it for about 6 months now.
I’ve spooled up a few of my finesse spinning reels with the lower pound tests and they work great.
And I also use the 50 and 65 pound tests on my frog / jig fishing setups. And I have had no issues with either the light braid or the heavy duty braid.
And obviously, the price is unbeatable compared to the rest of the braided line market. Now, if I was fishing a big tournament and I needed the absolute highest, top tier braided line.
Yes, I would probably go with a more premium braided line. But I’m assuming you aren’t doing much or any tournament fishing. And I’m not either most of the time.
So I have actually completely switched over to Reaction Tackle braid for all of the fishing I do with heavy duty, braid applications.
Reeling this In
Over the past 6 months or so, I have been using Reaction Tackle braided line. And I am happy to say that it is a very high quality braided line.
And with a much smaller price tag than pretty much every other braid on the market, I highly recommend Reaction Tackle braided line.
When it comes to the combination of quality and affordability, nobody beats Reaction Tackle.
